Amb. Shuaibu Ahmed

Chairman, Noor Takaful

Ambassador Shuaibu Adamu Ahmed is a seasoned Chartered Accountant and business leader with over 33 years of experience spanning the private and public sectors. He co-founded Ahmed Zakari & Co., one of Nigeria's prominent indigenous auditing and business advisory firms, where he has overseen critical engagements with major entities, including Dangote Cement Plc, Unity Bank, and Jaiz Bank, as well as projects within the NNPC Group. Ambassador Ahmed’s public service career includes roles as Special Adviser, Commissioner, and Secretary to the State Government of Bauchi State, where he drove initiatives in budgeting and economic planning. He later served as Nigeria's first Ambassador to Qatar, where he established the Nigerian mission, negotiated key bilateral agreements, and secured significant investments into Nigeria, including a strategic equity acquisition by Qatar in Eco Bank Plc. For his diplomatic contributions, he was honoured with Qatar’s "Sash of Merit." In recent years, Ambassador Ahmed was appointed as CFO for Nigeria’s Presidential Power Initiative with Siemens and later as Executive Secretary of the Financial Reporting Council, where he led regulatory reforms. Recognized internationally, he has been invited as a speaker by leaders like President Macron of France and UN Secretary-General António Guterres, underscoring his influence in global finance and governance. An accomplished leader with a commitment to excellence, Ambassador Ahmed holds multiple advanced certifications and has completed executive programs at Harvard University.


Muhtar Bakare

Chairman, Noor Health

His professional career spans many years of executive experience. He left Citibank Nigeria as Assistant General Manager in 2002 to serve as an Executive Director at Trust Bank of Africa (Now Sterling Bank). His passion led him to the media industry in 2004, where he established Kachifo Limited, the publishers of Farafina. He currently serves as the Managing Director of Pearson Education Publishing Limited Nigeria.


Aminu Tukur

Director

Aminu Tukur Joined Noor Takaful in February 2018 as General Manager – Finance & Marketing. He was subsequently appointed Acting MD in April 2019. He holds a Masters of Business Administration from Nottingham University Business School (UK) as well as BSc Accounting from University of Abuja, Nigeria. He has extensive experience in investments having worked with ARM, Efectivo Capital as well as Adamawa Investment & Property Development Company.


Rilwan Sunmonu

Director

Rilwan is a Chartered Insurer with over 20 Years' experience in the Nigerian Insurance market. He is a graduate of Insurance and qualified as a Chartered Insurance practitioner in 2008. He holds a Masters degree in Managerial Psychology from University of Ibadan, and started his Insurance career as an Operations Officer at Allison Insurance Brokers in January 1999. He was a Marketing Executive in Hallmark Assurance Plc (Now Consolidated Hallmark), before joining Royal Exchange Plc in the same year. He spent over fourteen years in Royal Exchange working in various units and departments, including Manager; Yaba Branch between 2011 and 2017 and Head; Manufacturing and Conglomerates. He joined Noor Takaful Insurance Limited in March 2019.


Maj. Abubakar Yusuf (Rtd.)

Director

Abubakar started his career as a professional in the field of Taxation and Small and Medium Enterprises. He eventually moved on to pursue a military career in the Nigerian Army, where he served for 14 years. In the Nigerian Army, He held various command positions and voluntarily retired as a Major in 2001. Major Abubakar then returned to consulting in strategic management, business policy formulation and client service delivery.


Mariam Ibrahim

An Investment Banker skilled in financial planning, with strong analytical and quantitative skills. Mariam's professional career spans many years of executive experience in various financial institutions from 2009 to Date. She has been the Managing Director of Inverness Wealth Management, where she was responsible for managing assets exceeding N3.5b.


Wan Zamri Ismail

Director

A Malaysian with over 30 years of Insurance, Reinsurance, Takaful and ReTakaful industry experience. He has served as CEO of many companies including Asean Takaful and Asean ReTakaful – Malaysia, Sharikat Takaful Indonesia, and Takaful House Dubai.


Stephen Muia

Director

A graduate of Economics and Business Administration from Kenyatta University. He also holds a Post Graduate Diploma in Marketing from the Chartered Institute of Marketing (UK) and is also a qualified Chartered Marketer. He is an expert in the insurance Industry with over 30 years' experience and has served as the Deputy Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of Takaful Insurance Africa. He was seconded by CIC Insurance to set up Takaful Insurance of Africa and oversee the establishment of the company. He was General Manager in charge of General Takaful (Insurance) and was later on promoted to Deputy Managing Director. He currently consults in insurance, marketing, motivation and change management, and serves on a number of Boards including Jubilant Kenya, Stecy Group and Purpose Capital.


Isma'ila M. Zakari

A seasoned Chartered Accountant with 30 years of experience, Isma'ila is the Managing Partner of Ahmed Zakari & Co. He leads a team of 50+ professionals, offering comprehensive accounting, audit, taxation, and advisory services. He is actively engaged in the global accounting community, serving on the IFAC Board since 2019. He has also served as the former president of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN). He brings extensive expertise to his role as a Non-Executive Director and Chair of Audit, Risk & Compliance Committee at Noor Health Limited.

Obinna currently serves as the Growth Executive for Sterling Financial Holding Company, one of Africa's most innovative and enterprising financial groups. Under his leadership, Sterling has emerged as a beacon of innovation in the health and education sector, attracting attention and participation from some of the industry's most notable stakeholders. His journey has also seen him in pivotal roles at leading organizations, including Advans Microfinance Network, Stanbic IBTC, and Hygeia HMO. Moreover, Obinna's commitment to fostering the next generation of innovators is evident through his mentorship of startup tech firms, where he dedicates his spare time to helping them navigate and solve the complex problems facing Africa. Despite starting his career as an Electrical Electronic Engineer, Obinna's passion for making a tangible impact led him to finance. He holds an MBA from Lagos Business School, a diploma in Project Management from the Institute of Project Management Ireland, and a certification in Venture Capital Development from Oxford University.


Dr Akinoso Olujimi Coker

Olujimi Coker is a Consultant Laparoscopic Surgeon and former CEO of Hygeia Nigeria, owners of Lagoon Hospitals Group, Lagos, Nigeria.Dr ‘Jimi Coker qualified from the College of Medicine, University of Ibadan, Nigeria and did his specialist surgical training in the United Kingdom with basic surgical training in Greater Manchester and higher surgical training in South Yorkshire around Sheffield University Teaching Hospitals. He is an Intercollegiate Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of England and a graduate of the advanced management program at INSEAD European Institute of Business in France. He was appointed Senior Lecturer in Surgery at Northern General Hospital and University of Sheffield in January 1999. In November 1999 he joined Doncaster and Bassetlaw NHS Trust as Consultant General Surgeon with specialist interest in Coloproctology and minimal access surgery. He served as surgical instructor to Tropical Health and Education Trust (THET - UK based charity) with annual visits to Northern Ghana for basic and emergency surgical skills courses from 1996 to 2007 and was appointed to THET board of trustees from 2006 – 2010. He was Chairman, International Development Committee of Association of Surgeons of Great Britain and Ireland organizing surgical skills courses in East and West Africa. Dr Coker was the co-founded the West African College of Surgeons UK forum in 2007 and served as pioneer coordinator from 2008 to 2011. He received an award at the Golden Jubilee Conference of the West African College of Surgeons (2010) for organizing the first pre-conference surgical outreach programme in Calabar, Cross River State, Nigeria. He was the principal instructor on advanced colorectal surgery at the Nairobi Surgical Skills Centre, University of Nairobi, Kenya from 2007 – 2015 with biannual training workshops for East African surgeons. He also co-founded Nairobi Colorectal Society in 2009. In 2010, he led a team of Nigerian Diaspora surgeons to support the surgical strategy at Hygeia Nigeria. He was then appointed Chief of Surgery at Lagoon Hospitals, Lagos in 2011. In January 2013, he became Chief Medical Director, and appointed CEO in 2019. As Head of Quality, he led the team at Lagoon Hospitals to achieve Joint Commission International (JCI) accreditation in 2011, that was a first in Sub-Saharan Africa. He has since led re-accreditation efforts in different management positions in 2014, 2017 and 2021. Lagoon Hospitals was awarded Private Hospital of the year at the Nigeria Excellence Awards ceremony in 2017, 2018 and 2021. During his tenure as Chief of Surgery at Lagoon Hospitals, Dr Coker established a Surgical centre of excellence in Laparoscopic surgery at Apapa and Ikoyi. He trained and mentored five Consultant surgeons, who joined the organization after residency training, to full certification as minimal access surgeons. As Chief Medical Director, he was responsible for the establishment of the dialysis unit, expansion of the Critical Care services from five to fourteen beds and Urology referral centre for minimal access surgery at Lagoon Hospitals. He was also involved in the successful acquisition of Gold Cross Hospital, Ikoyi along with the assimilation of staff and processes into the Lagoon Hospitals group. Dr Coker is a board member of the Society for Quality Healthcare in Nigeria (SQHN) and the Chairman, SQHN Accreditation Committee. He successfully led the International Society for Quality in Healthcare (ISQua) accreditation of SQHN accreditation standards in November 2019. Dr Coker is a faculty member for the advanced laparoscopic general surgery course and one of the course directors for the laparoscopic colorectal training program at IRCAD Africa in Kigali, Rwanda since October 2023. He is the President of Laparoscopic Surgery Society of Nigeria and Surgical lead for the African Cancer Coalition, an affiliate of American Cancer Society, responsible for the harmonisation of the National Cancer Care Network (NCCN) guidelines to suit the African continent. He is a member of Institute of Directors on Nigeria.


Rakiya Mohammed

Rakiya is the CEO and Founder of Digibit Solutions Limited. She previously held the position of Director of Information Technology at the Central Bank of Nigeria, where she spearheaded the development of Nigeria's Central Bank Digital Currency, the eNaira. Her extensive leadership experience also includes roles at Galaxy Backbone Plc, Premium Pension Limited, and Nigerian Telecommunications Limited. Rakiya earned a First-Class Honours Degree in Computer Science and a Masters in Information Systems Engineering. She is a Fellow of several prestigious organizations, including the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria and the Nigerian Computer Society. Additionally, she is a member of the Institute of Directors and an alumna of both Harvard and Oxford universities. Her credentials include certifications as a Certified IT Business Manager, Certified Chief Information Security Officer (CCISO), Lean Process Practitioner, Certified Enterprise Architect, Certified IT Governance Professional (COBIT, CGEIT), Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA), and Chartered Accountant (ICAN). She is also an honorary member of the Certified Institute of Bankers of Nigeria (CIBN). Rakiya's expertise encompasses blockchain technologies, including central bank digital currencies, cybersecurity, data analytics, cloud computing, and payment systems. She has successfully led the design and implementation of numerous large-scale projects, which include IT governance frameworks, comprehensive IT architectures, data warehousing and analytics solutions, cybersecurity initiatives, core banking systems, enterprise resource management systems(ERP), and various supervisory technology (suptech) and regulatory technology (regtech) solutions.
