Job Overview
The Finance Manager is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day financial operations of the organization, including accounting, budgeting, financial reporting, cash flow
monitoring, credit control, and cost control. Reports to the Chief Financial Officer (CFO), the role ensures accurate financial data management, supports financial analysis for business decisions, and enforces financial controls in line with industry standards. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in financial operations within the insurance industry, with proven experience in the preparation of management accounts and financial statements, as well as a solid understanding of compliance requirements and internal control frameworks.
Key Responsibilities
1. Financial Accounting & Reporting
- Ensure timely preparation and accuracy of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports.
- Maintain the general ledger and supervise month-end and year-end closing
processes. - Support the CFO in preparing financial information required for regulatory and board-level reporting.
- Assist in ensuring financial statements are in accordance with IFRS and internal
standards.
2. Budgeting & Performance Monitoring
- Coordinate the preparation of departmental budgets and monitor expenditures
against budgetary provisions. - Provide variance analysis reports and flag significant deviations to the CFO.
- Collaborate with other departments to ensure budget alignment with operational plans.
3. Cash Flow & Working Capital Management
- Monitor cash positions, daily inflows/outflows, and ensure adequate liquidity for
operational needs. - Prepare periodic cash flow forecasts and working capital reports for CFO’s review.
- Manage disbursements and monitor receivables, premiums, and claims-related cash movements.
4. Internal & External Audit, Control & Compliance
- Implement and enforce internal financial controls to safeguard company assets and maintain financial integrity.
- Review financial processes regularly to improve efficiency and reduce risks.
- Ensure compliance with internal policies and procedures in financial operation
- Support the CFO in preparing for internal and external audits by ensuring documentation is accurate and readily available.
- Implement audit recommendations in assigned areas and provide regular status
updates to the CFO. - Maintain appropriate financial documentation and audit trails.
5. Team Supervision & Development
- Supervise and mentor finance officers, accountants, and other junior staff in the
department. - Oversee day-to-day activities such as journal entries, reconciliations, payables, and
receivables. - Identify training needs and support capacity-building initiatives for the finance team.
- Work closely with underwriting, claims, and business development teams to ensure proper financial documentation and data tracking.
6. Data Protection & Confidentiality
- Uphold the highest standards of confidentiality in handling company-related
information, ensuring compliance with data protection laws and internal policies. - Adhere to the company’s information security guidelines, including proper storage, transmission, and disposal of sensitive materials.
- Promptly report any suspected data breaches or unauthorized access to the
appropriate company authority. - Participate in periodic data protection training to stay informed about evolving
security risks and best practices.
7. General Assignment
- Execute any other duties and tasks that may be designated or assigned by the
Company. - Participate in the knowledge sharing programme of the department and the
company - To provide support to your manager, Managing Director, and Vice Chairman as may be required towards serving the Board, Management, and staff members.
Required Skills and Qualifications
1. Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field. A Master’s degree is an added advantage.
- ACA/ACCA certification is required.
2. Experience:
- 5–10 years of progressive experience in finance roles, with at least 3 years in a supervisory or managerial capacity within the insurance industry.
3. Skills and Competence:
- Strong knowledge of financial reporting, operations, and accounting principles (IFRS).
- Proficient in accounting software and Excel-based financial modelling.
- Sound understanding of insurance-related financial processes.
- High level of accuracy, integrity, and organizational awareness.
- Strong leadership, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills.
- Good communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively across departments

- Timeliness and accuracy of monthly and quarterly financial reports.
- Cash flow forecast accuracy and working capital efficiency.
- Quality and timeliness of audit documentation (Target: 100% readiness).
