Job Summary

The Investment Manager is responsible for managing and overseeing the organization’s Shariah-compliant investment portfolio. The role ensures alignment with Islamic finance principles, optimal asset allocation, risk mitigation, and sustainable returns. This position includes conducting in-depth market research, evaluating investment options, ensuring regulatory and Shariah compliance, and providing strategic guidance to the investment team. The Investment Manager contributes significantly to the achievement of the company’s financial objectives and long-term growth strategy.

Responsibilities

Investment Strategy & Management

  • Develop and implement Shariah-compliant investment strategies that align with the company’s financial goals.
  • Identify, analyze, and recommend viable investment opportunities that comply with Islamic finance principles.
  • Monitor market trends, economic indicators, and financial risks to make informed investment decisions.
  • Ensure a well-balanced portfolio by diversifying investments across approved asset classes such as Sukuk, Islamic bonds, equities, and other halal investment.
  • Oversee the posting of investment transactions, including placements and liquidations.
  • Ensure proper recording and reconciliation of investment-related transactions.
  • Maintain accurate records of investment profits and ensure timely reporting to relevant stakeholders.

Performance Monitoring & Reporting

  • Track portfolio performance and prepare detailed, periodic investment reports for senior management and the Board.
  • Analyze economic indicators and financial market trends to support decision-making.
  • Review and refine portfolio strategies to respond to market developments or shifts in corporate financial goals.

Shariah Compliance & Risk Management

  • Ensure that all investments strictly adhere to Islamic finance principles, avoiding non-compliant sectors such as alcohol, gambling, and interest-based transactions.
  • Collaborate with Shariah advisors and scholars to validate investment instruments and structures.
  • Develop and maintain policies that align with regulatory requirements and Shariah principles.
  • Continuously monitor investment risks and implement mitigation strategies to safeguard assets.

Stakeholder Management & Engagement

  • Liaise with regulatory bodies, financial institutions, and external partners to enhance investment opportunities.
  • Evaluate the financial performance of investment portfolios and generate periodic reports for management review.
  • Work closely with internal departments to align investment strategies with the company’s overall financial objectives.
  • Communicate investment performance, risks, and opportunities to senior management and the Board.

Data Protection & Confidentiality

  • Uphold the highest standards of confidentiality in handling company-related information, ensuring compliance with data protection laws and internal policies.
  • Adhere to the company’s information security guidelines, including proper storage, transmission, and disposal of sensitive materials.
  • Promptly report any suspected data breaches or unauthorized access to the appropriate company authority.
  • Participate in periodic data protection training to stay informed about evolving security risks and best practices.

General Assignment

  • Execute any other duties and tasks that may be designated or assigned by the Company.
  • Participate in the knowledge sharing programme of the department and the company
  • To provide supports to the Managing Director and Vice Chairman as may be required towards serving the Board, Management and staff members.

Qualification

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Investment, Economics, Accounting, or related fields.

Certifications

  • CFA, ACA, CIS, ACCA, or equivalent professional qualification. Certification in Islamic Finance (CIPA, CSAA) is an added advantage.

Experience

  • Minimum of 5–7 years in Investment management or related roles.

Skills and Competencies

  • In-depth knowledge of Islamic finance principles and Shariah-compliant investment structures.
  • Strong understanding of financial markets and investment strategies.
  • Analytical mindset with excellent problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency in financial modeling and forecasting tools.
  • Understanding of regulatory frameworks and compliance requirements.
  • Effective communication and stakeholder engagement capabilities.

  1. Portfolio Performance: Achieve targeted investment returns while ensuring compliance with Shariah principles.
  2. Risk Management: Minimize investment risks through effective portfolio diversification and due diligence.
  3. Regulatory & Shariah Compliance: Maintain 100% adherence to Islamic finance regulations and ethical investment guidelines.
  4. Stakeholder Satisfaction: Maintain strong relationships with financial institutions, regulators, and internal stakeholders.
  5. Reporting: Deliver comprehensive and timely investment reports.
